A very girly FASHION Friday: 5 tips for dealing with disappointment

As I approach 30 years old this month, I have suddenly begun to think about all the dreams and goals in my heart that are not yet fulfilled. Let me rephrase that; all the dreams and goals that FEEL no where NEAR being fulfilled! As much as I would love to say I haven’t spent a considerable amount of days and nights feeling worried and anxious about my future, I feel it’s better for me to focus on the amazing journey of realisation I have been on and also share some of my tips with anyone who has struggled with the same thing.

1: You are not weird or crazy for having a heart full of dreams and goals. The life I am aiming for is far from the 9-5 lifestyle and very often I have wished I didn’t desire something far from the norm. But my heart is overflowing with adventure, and to be honest, I can hardly contain it most of the time. Practice patience and try your very best to enjoy rather than endure the process. When those dreams are fulfilled you want to have the character to go with them.

2: When you feel unsure, lost, worried, down and overwhelmed by the lack of opportunities coming your way…PRAY! Pray about everything and allow God to comfort you and make you feel better. He cares about how you feel and a good cry and prayer session always makes me feel like I can fly again. He knows what is best for you and if it’s good for you it will happen at the correct time.

3: Try your best not to focus on the success of those around you. YES, you must celebrate their achievements. And if you find this hard…do it anyway! Being happy for someone else qualifies you for your blessing. But if you focus your attention on them you run the risk of comparing yourself and this leads to nothing but a disappointed heart. Focus on ‘hope’ – ‘the Joyful expectation of good’

4: Accept that really and truly you only have so much control over the situation. Do all you can do to get you where you need to be. Study, practice, work hard, and be diligent. But I am a firm believer in the seasons in life being exactly the same for our destines. It won’t always feel like summer; sometimes it will feel like a cold winter, but seasons do and WILL always change.

5: Never give up ;0)
