Stress is a waste of time
‘A state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or demanding circumstances’
I am a very structured person. I like to plan things and prepare before I do anything because I always want to give my best effort. Unfortunately, sometimes things happen and I don’t get to prepare the way I would like to which sometimes results in me feeling a little overwhelmed. I know I shouldn’t but i’ve realised that it’s one of the down sides of my personality. My husband is very laid back and his approach to things is very care free and peaceful. I can only think of 1 or 2 occasions since we have been married where he has seemed overwhelmed or stressed and it’s been over 3 years since our wedding.
I get stressed when I think I could potentially fail at something or display myself in a negative way. I am learning that stress is a complete waste of time and there is no such thing as failure just an opportunity to grow, gain experience and become a better person. So much of how we view things is all down to mindset. It’s also scientifically proven that in your brain there is no difference between anxiety and excitement, the only difference is how you’re interpreting what’s happening. Let’s change our persective and stop worrying about things we can’t change.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Phi 4:6
