My name is Cynthia and I am unique because……?

Because, well… Aren’t we all? Each one of us has a special combination of life experiences and way of thinking, that no one else has, knows or understands.

I personally love your blog and style, who or what inspires your looks?

Lately more than anything, travel inspires me, especially the   people I meet and see. There’s something about the way you see the world and people when you travel, it’s as if you give yourself the liberty to stare a little longer, to absorb the moment a little more. In everyday life, there’s so much rush and running around, there’s less time to actually appreciate. My look has also been inspired by new York City and people who can make a badass outfit for less than $20.

For those who may not know, there is a lot more to you than your love for fashion, travel and food; You are also a practicing lawyer. How do you manage such a demanding career along with your lifestyle blog?

I know when to switch modes. When I’m at work, I’m at work, fully committed to my deliverables and deadlines. I dedicate time nights and weekends to do the blog thing. I’m very lucky because I can honestly say I enjoy both and that makes it feel less demanding.

Have there been any challenges along the way that have knocked your confidence within your career, and if so how did you overcome them?

I’ll be frank, in the beginning, I didn’t know what kind of lawyer I wanted to be and I just didn’t feel like I was at the level I wanted to be. I had always done well in school and I had some misconceptions about what the practice of law would really entail. However, when you continue to push, fight, work hard and learn to identify your strengths, it gets easier and much better. And the confidence game is a daily, weekly, yearly struggle. One day you feel on top of the world, and the next, you don’t feel so hot. Tis’ life, the ups and downs. You just always have to remember that. I try to store my confidence on the ups for those days.

What do you like to do on your days off?

Road trips, bake or eat baked goods, read magazines, plan trips

I love your fluffy natural hair, how long have you been natural and how has the journey been for you?

Thanks. It’s been 5 years and it’s been good, bad and ugly. Mostly good though. In this moment, as I can’t speak for tomorrow, I can’t imagine wearing my hair any other way. It just really works for me.

You have over 50,000 followers on instagram, do you ever feel pressure to keep people engaged?

Yes and No. It depends. If you try to compare or are solely focused on the numbers, you’re in for a headache and it won’t be fun. I try to just post shareable moments and let that happen naturally, but every once in a while, I see someone else doing something sooo cool and I think…hmm why didn’t I do that?

On your blog you have a subtle way of sharing inspirational posts for your readers. Who influence’s you the most and why?

My sister, my sister is the most amazing hands down person I know. Who she is and what she’s been able to do for my family and for others- I’m reminded that in the one life we have, we have to find a way to make it all worth it and memorable. My sister does that and I’m just trying to do it in my little way.
